Kayabaş, born on January 21, 1943 in Babaeski district of Kırklareli , began working as young cazgır (announcer) next to his foreman, Şirin (cute) Mustafa in 1963. Kayabaş who became the chief announcer in 1982, worked with 17 announcers at Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling in 2014.
Kayabaş, celebrating 51. year in his mission by year 2014, declares that he wants to continue his job for many years. Şükrü Kayabaş, while defining the head announcer (baş cazgır), declares that the announcer (cazgır) is the person sending the wrestlers to the field of contest and the announcers should know the wrestlers very well and present them to audience with their hometowns.
He introduced all wrestlers to our people with his beautiful poems in Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling. Kayabaş, stating that he has worked with 10 Mayors until now, presented the auctions for being Kırkpınar Aga 41 times. He has been appreciated with various awards by Mayors.
