According to the traditional legends, Kırkpınar was started 654 years ago after the conquest of Edirne and the old location of Kırkpınar is 6 hours far on the West and today it is out of the national borders, in the Greek land.
Historical place of Kırkpınar is inside of the meadow of Samona village. Wrestling square of the Pehlivans and the borders of the square as follows;
Main square is the place which is called Nazif Ağa Field. One side of this field is Tikioğlu Recep Ağa field, one side is vegetable garden of Çilingiroğlu and one side is the pillars of Kırklar Fountain which is a stream.
